CHURCHES

Your church can lead the way in equipping the next generation of leaders of color.

PAX provides the mentorship Christians of color are looking for.

  • Ninety-four percent of Black leaders in one of the largest denominations in the U.S. site discrimination and racism, inequities in appointments and salaries, and lack of young adults in church leadership as the top three concerns facing the denomination (UM News, 2023)

  • Denominations face a challenge to ensure that all clergy thrive, including clergy of color. This issue cannot be ignored if we are to follow the biblical mandate to “maintain justice and do what is right” (Religious Workforce Project, 2023)

  • Without BIPOC leadership in our churches, BIPOC Americans in their early 20s became dechurched, often leaving because they did not fit in (19%) or had bad experiences (11%) (Washington Post, 2024)

PAX deeply values collaborating with churches that share our desire to bring the peace and justice of Jesus to a changing world. To our team, partnership is not simply about working together – it’s about collaborating in mutual partnership to build something better than ourselves that will lead to lasting impact. We believe that if the church is to thrive in the future, it will require intentional mentorship that accounts for intersected identities of young Christians of color.

PAX provides emerging leaders of color in your congregations and communities with the mentorship and vocational development they crave in order to contribute to communal flourishing. By providing pathways, practices, and proficiency training, PAX aids young Christian leaders to hone their craft and call. These young people often lack support that celebrates and uplifts the unique intersections of their cultural and racial identities, and we want to change that.

Lead your church in the active mentorship and development of emerging young adults of color.

Join God’s work of raising up the next generation of church leaders, community builders, and creatives of color. Here’s how:

Participate in The PAX Fellowship

Send an emerging Christian of color on a seven-month journey at the intersection of contemplative formation and vocational development for peace and justice.

Become a PAX Financial Partner

Develop the next generation of church leaders of color who are too often left out of the room. For churches that give $250/month (or $3,000/year),we’d love to express our gratitude by inviting you to an upcoming contemplative retreat.

Request a Speaker

Request a PAX speaker for sermons, plenary or keynote messages, seminars, workshops, panel discussions, and conferences.

Adopt PAX Congregational Video Series

Transform your church’s congregational impact through a 6-week small group study centered on themes of cultural identity, nonviolence, mental health, or contemplative activism by PAX instructors.

Note: Coming Fall ‘24, and hosted by Kwaray, a community-based learning platform dedicated to equipping rising faith leaders from Pacific School of Religion.

“PAX has equipped our congregation to have biblically-rooted, gospel-centered, culturally-informed conversations with people from our community.”
